We still need YOUR help!
In order to secure essential funding, vital to the project's success, the Caerphilly Miners - Back to the Community committee is asking members of the local community to show their support by signing a pledge form. If you are from the Caerphilly and surrounding areas and believe that the Beeches building of the former Miners' hospital, as pictured above, should be retained as a community asset, please download a pledge form and ask friends, family and neighbours to sign up too. You won't be asked for money - just a signature to show your support of the project. Please return completed forms to the project secretary, Katherine Hughes, 26 Bryngwyn, Caerphilly, CF83 1ET by the 21st January. We are holding a coffee morning at the Tourist Information Centre on 21st January 10am-12pm - please bring completed forms with you on the day. Every signature takes the project plans a step closer to reality. THANK YOU.

Introduction
In 2006, the Welsh Assembly Government approved funding of over £100 m to build a new Local General Hospital within Caerphilly County Borough which will offer a broader range of facilities for the community. To facilitate this process, existing local hospitals across the Borough, including Caerphilly District Miners Hospital, will close.
Caerphilly District Miners’ Hospital was built early last century using Miners’ money. Many members of the Caerphilly community would like to see some kind of community use retained on the site when the wider site is redeveloped in honour of the investment made by the Miners all those years ago. In 2008 a steering group was set up in response to concerns by community members that the hospital site would only be redeveloped entirely for housing. In 2009, the group was formally established as the Caerphilly Miners Community Centre Management Committee with a goal of retaining some kind of community use along side the proposed residential development.
This website provides details about the Management Committee and background information on the work that we have been undertaking. The website will be updated regularly to keep you up to date on the latest news, fundraising events and meetings. A Blog has also been set up to allow members of the Committee Members to add their own thoughts and updates on the Groups activities.
We welcome comments and suggestions either through the Blog, by email or through the contact form. We have a website page where you can add your own memories and tell us what the hospital means to you. We also have a facebook group which we hope you will join. We would love to hear from you. Please explore this website further and lend your support to the Management Committee by signing up to our email updates.
