Our Work
In our capacity as a Management Committee we have been undertaking a range of work, including:
We are currrently working on:
- An initial feasibility study which looked into 6 different future uses: elderly care, healthy living centre, community centre, heritage use, arts use and offices for charities;
- Undertaking more detailed research which looked at what uses Caerphilly's community would like to see established on the site;
- Promoting the Caerphilly District Miners' Hospital site and adjacent field to the south through the emerging Local Development Plan for a mixed use development; and
- Setting up the Management Committee as an Unincorporated Association.
We are currrently working on:
- Raising the profile of the Management Committee and its vision through the creation of this website, establishment of a facebook page, and through other communication means;
- Seeking a commitment from the Welsh Assembly Government and the Health Trust to bestow to the community the land and the original building of Beech House;
- Fundraising events to raise money to undertake works to the building and/or land and to provide initial funding, where necessary, for the future community uses;
- Appointing a professional team to undertake a detailed feasibility study for possible community uses. This will include looking at options to retain the building in its whole, retain key features of the building but to undertake substantial renovation or whether there is need to build a brand new building;
- Seeking to establish the group as a Charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee (or other legal entity) which will provide the Steering Group with a wider range of powers to raise funds, to buy, lease or sell property, to borrow money and to employ staff amongst other things; and
- Preparing an exhibition in the Hospital to raise awareness of the work that we are undertaking...
- To name a few.
